Ara – Same like saki for Japanese, soju for Korean and Ara in Bhutan. It is locally brewed traditional beverage made from rice, maize, millet or wheat. Red Panda Beer– Bumthang is very famous for brewing Red Panda Beer. It is owned by Swiss national Mr. Maurer. The Red Panda Beer is a pale straw-coloured Hefeweizen and is made in small volumes, with aromas of bananas, clove and hint of lemon. Perfect to taste with the locally made cheese. At the brewery, one can witness the process which results in unfiltered Weiss Beer.
11000 Beer – The oldest beer brands Druk 11000 is the most popular among local dwellers. It is considered as strongest beer made with the Himalayan spring water allowing drinkers to have a refreshing feel after taking a sip.
K5 Whisky – K5 Himalayan Whisky is the first whisky blended and bottled in the country. The whiskey is named “K5” and produced to commemorate the auspicious occasion of the Coronation of His Majesty the Fifth Druk Gyalpo, King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk. Sixty-Five percent of its blend comes from 8 and 12 year old malt whiskeys, distilled in Scotland and aged in bourbon and sherry casks. The remaining 35% is 100% organic triple-distilled Bhutanese grain spirit made from rice and distilled with Himalayan glacial water to express its excellent light fruitiness with lingering sherry taste of sweetness. The whiskey is made at The Gelephu Distillery, under the Army Welfare Project.

Hot Stone Bath – Hot stone bath is one of the great experiences. The process starts with heating large river stones on a big fire. Once the stones are glowing red, they are dropped in a connecting chamber of a wooden trough (tub), which is filled with water. The holes in the chamber allow the stones to heat up the water and also give out minerals that dissolve and infuse the bath with medicinal properties. It is believed that the heat of the water, the minerals released from the rock, and the local herbs all combine to produce medicinal benefits for joint pains, hypertension, stomach disorders and arthritis.
Red Rice – Bhutanese red rice is medium-grain rice that has been grown for thousands of years, grown at nearly 9,000 feet above sea level and irrigated with mineral-rich glacial waters. Farmers in the western-central regions of Paro, Punakha, and Wangdue Phodrang have cultivated for centuries. Red rice is considered to be of superior quality with a distinctive earthy taste, a complex, nutty, soft texture and a beautiful russet colour. Red rice is deeply linked to the people of Bhutan as it is ancient, precious rice that has been grown for centuries. Finally, since the rice is grown naturally without any pesticides or fertilizers, the yield of this rice is fairly low.
