DETAILED ITINERARY |
Day 01: Arrival in Paro
Fly on the wings of the Dragon to Bhutan, on arrival in Paro International Airport, complete the immigration formalities and exit through only one arrival gate where HBT dedicated team who will be holding placard, no one will be missed. Transfer to your hotel in Paro. After a special transformation ritual you arrive in the Sanctuary, where our Guest Experience Team will do everything to make you feel at home. The Sanctuary is the only spa-inclusive 5-star luxury resort in Bhutan, this means you have free access to all our spa services and facilities, including a consultation with our traditional Bhutanese medicine doctor, yoga and meditation classes, an indoor heated pool, saunas, steam rooms, and beauty treatments. Day 02: Well-being Inclusive
The charming town of Paro lies on the banks of the Paro (or Pa) Chhu, just a short distance northwest of the imposing Paro Dzong. Rinpung Dzong-‘Fortress on a Heap of Jewels’, is ranked one of the best Bhutanese architecture. The massive buttressed walls that tower over the town are visible throughout the valley, particularly when landing at Paro Airport. The Dzong also offers administrative seat of the district of Paro. The Dzong was built in 1644 under the order of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal & National Museum of Paro– Perched above Paro Dzong it was watchtower built in 1649 to protect the undefended Paro Dzong located below, renovated in 1968 to house the National Museum. Today this museum houses the best collections of all time historical items making worth for a visit. Tashi Gonphel Handmade Paper Factory– At the Tashi Gongphel handmade paper factory, you can observe the fascinating process of Dehsho paper making. Dehsho paper making has become a crucial part of Bhutanese culture, which you will learn once you visit the factory. Later at noon, enjoy the benefit from the all-inclusive services and facilities of Bhutan Spirit Sanctuary, varying from a consultation by a traditional Bhutanese medicine doctor to hot stone herbal baths, full-body massages to yoga and meditation classes. Day 03: Paro halt
Home to Bhutan’s only international airport. Paro is also one of the most fertile valleys in the Kingdom producing a bulk of the locally famous red rice from its terraced fields. Blessed with beautiful weathers throughout the year and world famous and most sacred Buddhist pilgrimage Taktsang is located in Paro. Chele La Pass– Highest motor-able road pass connecting two districts Paro and Haa, an elevation of 3988m above the sea level. On clear days, one can enjoy view of the most sacred Mt. Jomolhari (7314m). The pass is dotted with beautiful prayer flags and offers amazing walks around, worth a visit while in Bhutan. You can also plan to ride mountain biking from Pass to Paro valley with the stretch of 36-48km, mostly downhill and easy ride. Farm House Visit– This experience is a particularly fun and spontaneous way to connect with the local community and learn about Bhutanese culture and way of living. Overnight in Paro
Day 04: Neyphu Valley
Paro valley extends from the confluence of the Paro Chhu and the Wang Chhu rivers at Chuzom up to Mt. Jomolhari at the Tibetan border to the North. This picturesque region is one of the widest valleys in the kingdom and is covered in fertile rice fields and has a beautiful, crystalline river meandering down the valley. Neyphu Valley – start your day with a well-being activity and a healthy breakfast. Go on a hike in the beautiful and pristine Neyphu valley, home to our Sanctuary, and take a delicious picnic with you! Take another well-being treatment during the afternoon. In the evening you have the opportunity to participate in a traditional Bhutanese dinner. Overnight in Paro
Day 05: Activities at the Sanctuary
Paro, One of the most beautiful of Bhutan’s valleys, it was also historically the center of two of the most important trade routes to Tibet. The vast idyllic valley of Paro, surrounded with meticulously manicured paddy fields sits at the bottom of the mount Jomolhari. Enveloped with mountains on all sides, the valley is home to the only International Airport in the country, connecting Bhutan to the world. Activities at the Sanctuary– Engage in one of the many activities the Sanctuary offers such as pottery classes in our art studio, cooking classes with one of our chefs, traditions Bhutanese sports such as dart & archery in our apple orchard, visit green house, read a book, etc. Overnight in Paro.
Day 06: Thimphu
Proceed to Thimphu which will take about an hour and half. The route will follow Paro River until Chuzom from where we will bend towards Thimphu river taking us to the heart of capital city Thimphu. The entire stretch of drives is very scenic and picturesque as we pass by some of the beautiful villages of Bondey, Shaba, Isuna etc until we enter welcome gate in Thimphu. Buddha Dordenma– The Buddha Dordenma is located at a top of the hill in Kuenselphodrang Nature Park and overlooks the southern entrance to Thimphu valley. The Buddha Dordenma is a gigantic 51.5-meter tall statue, making it one of the largest statues of Buddha in the world. National Library-The National Library was established in 1967 to preserve ancient Buddhist scripts and texts. One can also see world largest picture book on Bhutan. Tashichho Dzong-Houses the throne room of His Majesty the King of Bhutan and government secretariat buildings, beautiful arts and crafts, built in 17th century. Visitors are open for an hour in the evening and closed during official meeting or gathering. The Cordyceps Tasting House-The kingdom of Bhutan is also known as The Land of Medicinal Herbs for its rich biodiversity and heritage of medicinal herbs. The Cordyceps Tasting House is an initiative to revive this reputation and transform the way the world experiences Bhutan’s natural bounty. The tasting house has a Museum on Cordyceps, a Tasting Room with Cordyceps-infused menu, and a Showroom to showcase Cordyceps products and other Made-in-Bhutan items. Beer tasting at Namgay Artisanal Brewery: They brew many styles of beers, considering the different drinking palates for taste, making sure that all beer-lovers are satisfied. OverNight in Paro.

Often called the heart of Bhutan, Paro is also recognized as one of the most significant historical and cultural centres of the country, which is home to age-old buildings, temples and dzongs. Day 08: Tiger’s Nest
This picturesque region in the kingdom is covered in fertile rice fields and has a beautiful, crystalline river meandering down the valley. Paro has more of historical sites, high-end tourist resort and many souvenir shops for shopping including world famous Takstang. Taktsang Gompa/Tiger’s Nest Temple– is Bhutan’s most iconic landmark and religious Buddhist site in the world. The name Taktsang translates to “The Tiger’s Nest”. The temple is one of the holiest sites in Bhutan which clings impossibly to a sheer cliff face 900 meters above the valley. Although good trekkers can make it to the top in two hours, most of the guests take whole day to complete the hike. Kichu Lhakhang- Temple considered sacred Jewel of Bhutan was established by the Buddhist King Songstsen Gampo of Tibet to overcome the giant ogress that laid across Tibet and Himalayas preventing the spread of Buddhism. The king is believed to have built the temple at the left foot of the enormous ogress. Kichu Lhakhang was among 12 temples in Bhutan out of 108 temples said to have been constructed over single night. Kichu Lhakhang was initially small in size however later, the temple expanded both in grandeur and size to its form that we see today. Day 09: Activities at the Sanctuary
Bordered by forested mountain peaks, Paro is a small valley town in western Bhutan and one of the most beautiful arrival points for any country. This quiet town consists of just a handful of colourful buildings and captures the essence of provincial Bhutanese life.
