DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 01: Arrival in Paro
Arrive at Paro Airport. Visit the National Museum (Ta-Dzong) and Kyichu Lhakhang. Afterwards, visit Tshendhen Incense Factory to learn about incense making. In the evening, visit Rinpung Dzong to photograph the illuminated monuments and Paro Valley. Overnight in Paro.

Day 02: Paro Sightseeing
Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery, one of the most photographed sites in Bhutan. Afterwards, visit equally stunning Dzongdrakha Gompa in Bondey village. Visit a farmhouse to photograph daily life inside a rural Bhutanese household. Later, try your hand at archery, Bhutan’s national sport. End your day with a relaxing hot stone bath and dinner at your hotel. Overnight in Paro.

Day 03: Haa Valley Excursion
Drive to Haa Valley at sunrise and click pictures of stunning landscape and Himalayan flora at Chele La. Visit Haa town and the surrounding villages. Drive back to your hotel in Paro and spend the evening at leisure. Overnight in Paro.

Day 04: Fly to Trashigang
Fly to Trashigang in Eastern Bhutan. Overnight in Trashigang.

Day 05: Trashigang Sightseeing
Visit Rangjung to photograph beautiful Rangjung Woesel Choeling Monastery. Later, visit Radhi village, famous for its beautiful rice fields and hand-woven Bura (raw silk) textiles. Drive back to Trashigang and stroll around the main market to photograph the bustling streets. Return to your hotel for dinner. Overnight in Trashigang.

Day 06: Trashi Yangtse Excursion
Drive to Trashiyangtse, a beautiful valley dotted with traditional houses and terraced fields. Visit stunning Chorten Kora, an ideal spot for photographing riverside and the surrounding verdant landscape. Overnight in Trashigang.

Day 07: Trashi Gang to Mongar
Drive to Mongar. En route, stop at Yadi village and interact with locals and take some pictures of the valley and its inhabitants. After reaching Mongar, take a stroll around the town and shoot street scenes. Overnight in Mongar.

Day 08: Mongar Sightseeing
Visit Khoma village, the birthplace of Kishutara weaving. In the evening, stroll around the town, interact with people and photograph the colourful fabrics hanging outside the shop fronts. Overnight in Mongar.

Day 09: Mongar- Bumthang
Drive to Bumthang. The 9-hour drive takes you through some beautiful valleys, waterfalls and dense forests. Overnight in Bumthang.

Day 10: Bumthang Sightseeeing
Visit Kurje Lhakhang, Jambay Lhakhang, Tamzhing Lhündrup Monastery and Jakar Dzong. Later, visit Swiss Cheese Factory and Red Panda Beer Brewery. Overnight in Bumthang.

Day 11: Tang Valley Excursion
Drive to Tang Valley to visit Ogyen Choling Heritage House. The house is considered an important religious estate and now serves as a museum where several rooms are re-created to depict the traditional Bhutanese way of life.

Day 12: Bumthang- Trongsa
Drive to Trongsa via Chumey, a beautiful valley with low hanging clouds, terraced fields and pine forests. Stop at lookout points to take pictures and enjoy the scenery. Overnight in Trongsa.

Day 13: Trongsa Sightseeing
Visit Trongsa Dzong, the largest fortress in Bhutan. Later, visit Kuenga Rabten Palace, the old winter home of the second king Jigme Wangchuck and his senior Queen, Ashi Phuntsho Choden. Overnight in Trongsa.

Day 14: Trongsa- Phobjikha
Drive to Phobjikha/Gangtey, a lovely valley near Pele La. Overnight in Gangtey.

Day 15: Phobjikha Sightseeing
Visit Gangteng Monastery, an important seat of Nyingma Buddhism in the country. Visit Black-necked Crane Information Centre in Phobjikha valley. It houses informative exhibits on Black-necked Cranes and other Himalayan species. Later, hike the Gangtey Nature Trail and photograph flora and fauna as well as surrounding landscapes. Overnight in Gangtey.

Day 16: Phobjikha- Punakha
Before leaving for Punakha, photograph the valley at sunrise. Drive to Punakha and visit Chimi Lhakhang (The Temple of Divine Madman). Overnight in Punakha.

Day 17: Punakha Sightseeing
Hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgay Chorten through picturesque terraced fields and pine forest. Afterwards, visit majestic Punakha Dzong. Take a walk to the longest suspension bridge of the country located behind the fortress. Overnight in Punakha.

Day 18: Punakha- Tsirang
Tsirang is specially incorporated in this itinerary because it offers a chance to photograph villages and rural life of Bhutan without any diversions. Overnight in Tsirang.

Day 19: Tsirang- Thimphu
Drive to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan, via Dochula Pass. Overnight in Thimphu.

Day 20: Thimphu Sightseeing
Take a walk around Kuensel Phodrang Nature Park and take some pictures of Thimphu Valley from various lookout points in the park. Afterwards, visit Great Buddha Dordenma, an enormous statue of Shakyamuni Buddha perched on a hilltop overlooking Thimphu Valley. Visit Tashichhoe Dzong, the seat of Bhutanese government and monastic body. Overnight in Thimphu.

Day 21: Thimphu Sightseeing
Hie to Tango Monastery and photograph Thimphu valley from the hilltop. Later, stroll around the city and photograph the bustling streets of the capital. Overnight in Thimphu.

Day 22: Paro Sightseeing
Drive to Paro and spend the day at leisure. You can finish photographing any subject you missed during your first visit. Overnight in Paro.
