Bhutan Times – The Bhutan Times is Bhutan’s first privately owned newspaper which was started in April 2016. The private newspaper is run by a group of young reporters and editors. The paper was started as an English language weekly published in Sunday. In December 2007, the paper became a bi- weekly published on Wednesday and Sunday. The Bhutan Times became a public limited company in January 2007 with the promoters holding about 66% of the shares and the rest of the shares owned by public. The paper is now weekly again and is published on Sunday.
Bhutan Today – Bhutan Today was started in October 2008 as a national daily. The English language paper later became a bi-weekly published on Wednesday and Saturday. In June 2017, it became a weekly published on Sunday.
The Journalist – The Journalist is a private limited company established in 2009 as the sixth newspaper in Bhutan. The English language weekly is published on Sunday.
Business Bhutan – The country’s first and the only financial newspaper, Business Bhutan Private Limited, was conceived on June 1, 2009 and officially launched on September 26 the same year. The main motivation behind starting the weekly newspaper was to cater to the growing corporate and business sector in the country. The idea was to establish a newspaper with a unique niche of its own, primarily focusing on business and finance, offering more in-depth news coverage in these fields.
Gyalchi Sarchog – Gyalchi Sarshog is a weekly Dzongkha language newspaper started in November 2011. The paper provides regional and international news in Dzongkha.
The Bhutanese – The Bhutanese Newspaper started on 21st Feb, 2012. The paper from its inception has been known for bold and hard hitting journalism which has helped it to make significance national impact through an array of stories. The Bhutanese is the winner of best investigative story for 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 in the Annual Journalism Awards of Bhutan. The Bhutanese was founded by a journalist Mr. Tenzing Lamsang.
